Melograno 2004 - Melograno 2004 - A very cold and rainy winter with lots of snow: 40 cm for three days, not seen since 1985. In mid-April, the soil temperature never rose above 10º C.
May emphasized the year's slow evolution with temperatures staying 3-4 degrees below the seasonal average. Flowering started on the 1st of June, stimulated throughout the month by sunny weather, mild temperatures and a few days of rain, favouring a perfect fruit set. The temperatures in June, July and August were also below average, resulting in a slow veraison: colour had not set by the 30th August for all varieties. A very hot and sunny September, bolstered by a couple of "501" applications, consented the grapes to ripen fully. Harvest began on the first days of September for the Pinot Noir vineyards, between the 13th and 23rd for Syrah, with yields of 0.5 to 1 kg per vine.

A great vintage rich in fragrances (intriguing notes of pepper, raspberries and wild grasses), supported by a good acidity and a full and precise body: a good vintage for cellaring!
Grape blend: Pinot Noir, Syrah, Carrarese, Ciliegiolo, Maraccina.
